My philosophy on well being and how I work

I am a believer in living a life in balance, which can be a challenge in today’s world.  The connection between mind and body, our physical health, financial health, relationship health, and the role of living in alignment with our values all impact our well-being.  I strive to help my clients clarify what is not fitting for them and what better might look like not only in theory, but in the practice of everyday life.  It is my hope to support clients in moving towards their version of “better” and exploring what arises from that.  I often see clients who are experiencing life transitions, anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges.  We explore in the realms of thought, feeling, and action, how the interconnection of those impact wellbeing, and how your values are being supported by or diminished by your current lived experience.  The work should support you in exploring the challenging areas, finding your own wisdom, and choosing your pathway.  My role is to companion you on that journey, providing support, challenge, and curiosity along the way.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

What to expect

Therapy is different for every person. Some is archaeological in nature; some stays in the here and now. Some involves building skills, supporting changes (or not changes), developing insight, or sitting with an array of feelings. What we do is unique to you and defined by your goals and needs.  The most important thing is to feel safe and comfortable enough to talk about the things that are really weighing on you, to allow yourself to be seen genuinely.  Sessions are typically 50-55 minutes beginning on the hour, and we will wander where you wish to go.  I may suggest things to try between sessions, and it is your choice to try them or not.  My dog Tootsie may join us some days.
